Lodge Auction House in the News
News Video Coverage of the Crystal Beach Auction
"It's been closed now for 21 years, but for decades, there was only one place to be when Western New Yorkers wanted some cool summer fun. Crystal Beach sat along the Lake Erie shoreline in Canada since the 1920's. Now, thanks to a collector in Clarence, some relics from those golden days are up for auction to the highest bidder." |

"A Western New York man who's collected Crystal Beach items for years will auction them off Tuesday at the Lodge Auction House in South Buffalo. Dr. Burt Sellers has collected Crystal Beach items since the main auction in 1989 and is now selling them to prepare for a move down south. Items scheduled for auction Tuesday include mostly signs that were up in and around the amusement park but there's also an original park turnstile and even wooden beams from the rollercoaster known as "The Comet"." |

"Hard to believe that Crystal Beach has been closed for more than 20 years, but pieces of the amusement park live on, and Tuesday night western New Yorkers turned out for a chance to take home a memory. Walking into this room, the memories came flooding back for folks in this crowd. All have the same childhood memories of their beloved Crystal Beach. Tom Young said, "It just brings back memories of saving nickels and dimes to get enough money to go there with your friends."" |
